Around Dhaulagiri Trekking

Around Dhaulagiri Trekking

Around Dhaulagiri Trekking

Around Dhaulagiri trek is a challenging trek around the Dhaulagiri massif (8167m), the seventh highest mountain in the world, which involves snow and glacier walking. This is the perfect trip those who want a more intense experience of the mountains. Dhaulagiri lies north west of Pokhara culminating to its highest point at the eastern end, Dhaulagiri is almost unique in the world in terms of its rise above local terrain where it rises to 7000m over the Kali Gandaki gorge to the south east in about 30 km of aerial distance. In fact, Kali Gandaki is dramatic as two eight thou-senders, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri both stand near the river facing each other over a deep valley.

Around Dhaulagiri trekking begins from Beni, trail passes through cultivated land connected with mountain villages and exploring lifestyle of Gurung, Chhetri, and Magar people. Following the Myagdi Khola westwards to Darbang and turn north on a tiny trail that leads through forests into the high country. You will cross two high passes, the French Pass (5360) and Hidden Valley (5200m) providing more spectacular views of Dhaulagiri, Thorong, Annapurna peaks and Kali Gandaki River (the world deepest gorge). Dhaulagiri circuit trek offers breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri range and many other mountains. Geographically, Dhaulagiri region is a land of dramatic contrast. Dhaulagiri separated from the Annapurna region by worlds deepest Kali Gandaki.
