Manaslu trekking has been open since 1991; it provides spectacular beauty along the border of Nepal and Tibet. 

Mt. Manaslu is located east of the Annapurna range. We can extend this trek with the Tsun Valley trek. Manaslu's incomparable beauty and rich blend of Tibetan and Nepalese culture offer a true adventure for visitors to Nepal. Manaslu Larkya La Pass Circuit Trekking / 18 Days - Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m)
Namaste & welcome to Mountain Guide Trek of Nepal. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Mountain guide Treks (MGT). After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Mountain Guide Treks and Expedition with Group leader's name display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to Hotel. After check in, if time allows, you will visit MGT office to meet your trekking leader as well as other participants and for final preparation for the trip. It all depends upon your arrival time. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 02: Drive to  Macha khola (1300m) 5-6  hour drive

We take an 8-9 hrs Jeep  ride to Machha khola ,passing the Arughat bazzar in Gorkha district, The village of Arughat is in two parts, on opposite sides of the Budhi Gandaki; Arughat Bazaar is clean and prosperous with hotels and shops selling cloth, food and hardware. (Overnight at Teahouse  on full board basis)

Day 03: Trek Macha khola - to Khorlabesi (1410m-11km-6hours walk)

Machha Khola and then trek on to  Khorlabesi. Crossing Khorlabesi passeses to Tatopani,At Tatopani there is hot spring where the porters will no doubt take the opportunity to have a quick wash. After Tatopani the trail crosses to the left bank of the Budi Gandaki over a suspension bridge. Through the forest we reach the village of Doban where we can watch the Budi Gandaki descends an impressive series of rapids and further up the river valley opens up. The camp for tonight is in the village of Salleri an hour or so beyond Jagat. (Overnight at Teahouse  on full board basis)

Day 04: Trek Korlabesi to Salleri (1360m) 5-6 hrs
At Tatopani there is hot spring where the porters will no doubt take the opportunity to have a quick wash. After Tatopani the trail crosses to the left bank of the Budi Gandaki over a suspension bridge. Through the forest we reach the village of Doban where we can watch the Budi Gandaki descends an impressive series of rapids and further up the river valley opens up. The camp for tonight is in the village of Salleri an hour or so beyond Jagat. (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 05: Trek Salleri to Deng (1860m) 6-7 hrs
After village of Sirdibas we cross the Budi Gandaki on a large suspension bridge and climb steeply to Philim. The trail traverses the hillside and passes Ekle Bhatti (lonely tea house) before crossing back over the river below the confluence of Budi Gandaki and Siyar Khola. From here we enter a dramatic section of the gorge high above the river. The trail makes its way up the west side of the valley and offers a pleasant walk through bamboo forests to the village of Deng. (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 06: Trek Deng to Ghap (2380m) 3-4 hrs
Today, the trek will be shorter day than other day we enter the area influenced by Buddhism. After a few more ups and downs through forests, the trail turns a corner and arrives at Ghap through well preserved paintings and elegant Mani wall. (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 07: Trek Ghap to Lho (3180m) 4-5 hrs
The valley becomes steeper and there is a long climb through bamboo and rhododendron forest to the village of Namrung. The trail now enters the Nupri region. The people are descendants of Tibetan migrants who arrived over 500 years ago. Typical Tibetan features include the entrance gates to the villages, Mani walls and Buddhist Gompas. Beyond here the valley opens out and soon passes through the Tibetan village of Sho. Above this village we get views of Manaslu and Naike Peak and from the next village of Lho (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 08: Trek Lho to Samagaon (3450m) 5-6 hrs
From Lho, we follow the right bank of the river with views of Peak 29 ahead. A couple of hours climbing through the forest bring us to the village of Shyala, offering superb views of Phungi, Manaslu and Him Chuli. Crossing a wide pasture with many marmots we enter the village of Samagaon. Our camp is at the top end of the village below the impressive Sama Gompa with impressive views of Manaslu.

Day 09: Acclimatization day at Samagaon
The nearby monastery is well worth a visit, as is the village of Samagaun. This is a great day exploring the areas and with a great views around. (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 10: Trek Samagaun to Samdo (3860m) 3-4 hrs
Follow the Budi Gandaki northwards to a bridge over a side stream where the trail forks; the left leading towards the Manaslu Base Camp, the other passing several Mani walls heads for the Larkya La. The valley widens along an easy trail past juniper and birch forest to the stone huts at Kermo Kharka, and then drops off a shelf to cross a wooden bridge and climbing between forks in the river to a promontory. We can see one amazing white stone \Kani marking the entrance to Samdo. (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 11: Trek Samdo to Larkya Phedi (4460m) 3-4 hrs
Today we start the ascent to the pass by downhill through fields to an old Mani wall and stone arch before dropping to the river and crossing on a wooden bridge. This place shows up on maps as the mythical Larka Bazaar, which used to be a flourishing market. Another Mani wall marks the beginning of ascent to the pass where the trail starts climbing through tundra and juniper; the huge Larkya Glacier coming from Manaslu can be seen from here. Day 12: Cross the Larkya La (5135m) trek to Bimtang (3590m) 7-8 hrs
After an early start, we soon reach the ablation valley on the left side of the Larkya Glacier with impressive views of Cho Danda and Larkya Peak. We continue walking along glacial moraine and start making the gradual ascent to the summit of the Larkya pass. From the top, there is a panorama view of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru and Annapurna II. On the descent the trail follows the top of the moraine to the west and makes a set of steep, rough switchbacks as it crosses the moraine then descends more gently on snow to a grassy moraine. The valley becomes wider as the trails heads down to a large meadow, past a Mani wall and a small rest house that marks Bimthang. (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 13: Trek Bimtang to Tilje (2300m) 5-6 hrs
After crossing the pastures of Bimthang the trail drops to a glacial stream at the headwaters of the Dudh Khola, crosses a wooden bridge and descends into pine and rhododendron forest. Not far from here you reach Karche's fenced fields, then cross a landslide before making a steep climb to a ridge decorated with prayer flags before making a descent to the river bank at Gho. The trail continues through fields and intermittent stands of rhododendron and oak to arrive large Gurung village at Tilje (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 14: Trek Tilje to Chamje (1430m) 5-6 hrs
Exit the village through a stone arch, cross the Dudh Khola and follow along its embankment descending through scrub forest. The walls of the Marsyangdi Valley loom larger and finally the houses of Dharapani appear in the distance. Pass through Thonje via a wooden bridge and through a shorten-shaped arch and Dharapani lies across a long suspension bridge over the Marsyangdi. The trail now follows the Annapurna Circuit route in reverse as you pass through the steepest part of the Marsyangdi gorge. (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 15: Trek Chamje to Nyagdi (920m) 5-6 hrs
Today we trek downstream follow the Marshyangdi river passing though the Tal and Chamje village with few steps up and down hill through the rive deep gorge and brings you at Nyagdi village, (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 16: Trek Nyagdi to Khudi (790m) 5-6 hrs
We trek to the Khudi village after our long trekking. This is great place to stay and scenic view of Mt. Manasalu close to your eyes, rest and relax at camp (Overnight at tend camp on full board basis)

Day 17: Drive Khudi to Kathmandu, 7-8 hrs
Today, we drive back to Kathmandu through the scenic view of the countryside and passing through headquarter of the Lamjung called Besishahar which is a starting point of Annapurna Circuit trek. We back to Kathmandu and take a rest and be relax (Overnight deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 18: Farewell Friend (Final departure to your onward destination)
Today is last day in Nepal for this trip; you are saying good bye to the mountains as journey in Nepal comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Mountain Guide Treks will take you to the airport.

  • Nepal entree visa: you can get a visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu (a multiple-entry tourist visa good for 30 days can be obtained by Paying US $ 40 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, multiple-entry tourist visas for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $100. Please bring 2 copies of passport-size photos.)
