Everest Base Camp Trek

Everest base camp trek is the popular trekking trail in Everest Region. Everest base camp trek is the most famous trekking route in the world and is a lifetime opportunity to see some of the most breathtaking scenery. It is primarily renowned for its scenic views of the highest peak on the earth, the Mt. Everest (8,848m), and other summits lying around the Everest region.

Mount Everest is the highest peak in the world. It is popularly known as Sagarmatha and meaning the goddess mother of the earth, has always been the greatest attraction among the tourists. Besides the scenic views, the trek to Everest Base Camp is famous for the unique landscapes of the Solukhumbu, the heartland of the Sherpas. Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay had made a victorious ascend to this the highest peak of the world from this same route in 1953.

Therefore, this trekking trail has been much demanded in recent days. While trekking in the region, the trekkers are enchanted with the views of unbelievable peaks, Buddhist monasteries, and friendly Sherpa ethnic villages. The highest mountain in the world continues to lure adventurers as ever. The hair-raising flight lands you at the airstrip at Lukla from where you begin walking to the famous Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar and continues up to Tengboche monastery with the mesmerizing peak of Ama Dablam hovering in the sky.

Then it is over the glaciers to the foot of Everest for the view of a lifetime. This route is no doubt to make everyone's dream come true, as it offers magnificent views of snow-capped mountains including the highest peaks of the world Mt. Cho-Oyu, and other neighboring mountains such as Amadablam, Thamserku, Nuptse among others.

There are many routes for reaching Everest base camp and many places to rest and enjoy a meal along the way. Everest Base Camp Trek / 13 days

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m).

Namaste & welcome to Mountain Guide Trek of Nepal. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Mountain Guide Treks (MGT). After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Mountain Guide Treks and Expedition with the Group leader's name display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to the Hotel. After check-in, if time allows, you will visit the MGT office to meet your trekking leader as well as other participants and for final preparation for the trip. It all depends upon your arrival time. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 02: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2610m) 3-4 hrs.

Early morning, we go to the airport for the Lukla flight. The flight into Lukla is a lifetime experience. The airfield is at high evaluation and the difference between the two ends of the runway is about 60 meters! Trek to Phakding with green landscape & view of Kusum Kangaru. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 03: Trek Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m) 5-6 hrs.

We follow the Dudh Kosi, ascending through Himalayan pine and Deodar cedar forests, to the celebrated village of Namche Bazaar. The village of Namche is a historic trading post where Nepalese and Tibetan traders exchange salt, dried meat, and textiles. Besides being a superb place to shop for traditional crafts, Namche remains the central trading post in the Khumbu, attracting Himalayan and lowland merchants. You will spend two days in Namche for acclimatization, visit local markets and spend time with your team. On the hike, we captured our first glimpses of Everest and neighboring peaks. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis).

Day 04: Trek Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3860m) 5-6 hrs.

The flat and easy trail leads towards the view of Mt. Everest, then descends deep into the Dudh Kosi Valley at Pungki Thanka; from here it ascends the right flank of the Dudh Kosi valley to Tengboche Monastery (3860m). It is the spiritual Centre of the Khumbu; the climb is long, but more than compensated by views of Mt. Amadablam and, on a sunny day, views of Mt. Everest and its surrounding peaks. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 05: Trek Tengboche to Dingboche (4410m) 5-6 hrs.

Descend through a beautiful forest then cross the Imja Khola and trek through the village of Pang Boche (3900m); today is the most interesting trekking because you will not lose altitude like on other days and you will enjoy views of Mt. Amadablam, Mt. Lhotse & other peaks; the route continues through pastures to Dingboche, known as the 'Summer Valley'. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 06: Trek Dingboche to Lobuche (4910m) 5-6 hrs.

Trek along a broad valley floor to Dughla, passing the Trekkers Aid Post at Pheriche (4240 m), staffed by western volunteer doctors, and supported by the Himalayan Rescue Association which offers treatment and consultation to trekkers. Continue up the valley, gaining altitude. Come out of the valley to descend to the yak pastures of Lobuche (4910m). (Overnight at tea house on full board basis).

Day 07: Trek Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5400m) then back to Gorakshep (5181m) 6-7 hrs.

After a short climb through meadows, look down on the Khumbu Glacier. Straight ahead is Kalapattar - the best vantage point to view the entire south face of Mt. Everest and the surrounding peaks. After a couple of hours, we will get to Gorekshep, and continue our journey to Everest Base camp. There is not much elevation gain, but there are a lot of difficulties and, combined with altitude, this can be a tiring portion- but the journey is worth it. After approximately 3 hrs. of hiking, you will arrive at Base Camp and enjoy views of the Khumbu Glacier and Icefall, where Everest expeditions begin. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 08: Hiking Gorekshep to Kalapattar (5545m) to Gorekshep to Pheriche (4210m) 6-7 hrs.

The day starts with a hike up to Kalapattar (5545m), the best viewpoint to witness Mt. Everest and the spectacular Himalayan range. Then trek back to Gorekshep for a hot breakfast and then descend to Pheriche (4210m). (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 09: Trek Pheriche to Tengboche (3860m): 5-6 hrs.

After the previous day's tiring ascent to Kala Patthar, today is an easier walk down to the lower altitudes. Following the same route back to the terminal moraines at Dughla and following the wide valley of Khumbu Khola we pass through the beautiful Sherpa villages of Pheriche, Orsho, and Shomare. If we wish to visit the Gompa in Upper Pangboche we can do so by taking a different trail from Shomare. Otherwise, we take the regular trial to reach Pangboche. From Pangboche we retrace our footsteps down to the Imja Khola and up through the forest to Debuche or if interested, we might visit nuns at the Debuche monastery. Finally, we reached Tengboche. If we are trekking during the full moon of November or December, we might get an opportunity to witness the Mani Rimdu festival in the monastery at Tengboche. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 10: Trek Tengboche to Namche Bazaar: (3440m): 5-6 hrs.

We will trek down through the hillside blanketed by rhododendron and juniper trees. If it's Spring, pink and red rhododendron flowers ablaze our surroundings. After crossing the prayer flag festooned bridge over the Dudhkoshi River, we reach Phunki Thenga. The trail then follows the Dudh Koshi gorge descending rapidly through the pine forests. The path eventually reaches Sansa which is the major trail junction in the region. We stopped at Kyangjuma (3570 m/11,710 ft (about 3.57 km)) for a relaxed lunch. We unknowingly appreciate the gorgeous Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Nuptse with every bite. Following lunch, the trail to Namche Bazaar clings to the steep wooded slope beyond Kyangjuma, winding through several bends. We keep a lookout for wildlife such as mountain goats, snow leopards, colorful pheasants, etc., while we pass through the forest by the trail. After passing a Chorten, we reached the army camp at Namche Bazaar. We want to take a long last look back to Lhotse, the tip of Everest, and Tengboche from here. On reaching our lodge, we take a nice hot shower and have a very relaxed sleep in our room in Namche Bazaar. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 11: Trek Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2800m) 6-7 hrs.

After a long walk today, we will have a long and last day trek back to Lukla, Firstly we descend the long way before crossing the bridge and further walk to Monju and then Phakding for lunch. We trek back enjoying the lush green scenery around and passing through the incredible mountain scenery and local Sherpa village. After walking for 7-8 hrs we arrive at Lukla and you'll have time to stroll around the area the guide will re-confirm your flight ticket and enjoy the last celebrated dinner with your crew members for a memorable trip. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 12: Fly Lukla to Kathmandu - 30 min.

If the weather remains good, early in the morning we will fly back to Kathmandu after our long mountain journey. After 30 min you will react to the domestic airport at Kathmandu. We will send a private Car/van/bus to pick you up at the hotel then you can rest and relax throughout the day in the hotel if you do not have any necessary things to do. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 13: Farewell Friend (Final departure to your onward destination).

Today is the last day in Nepal for this trip; you are saying goodbye to the mountains as a journey in Nepal ends today! There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. If you have more time, you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Mountain Guide Treks will take you to the airport.

(Useful Info: -Please note that often the Kathmandu - Lukla - Kathmandu flight gets delayed by a few hours or may even get canceled for one, two, or more days due to harsh weather conditions. Such conditions may happen even in the best seasons. Therefore, in such cases, you must be prepared for long waits both at Kathmandu and Lukla airports, as this can happen either at the start or end of the trek or even both. We will do our best to avoid such delays and fix you on the next flight. Still, we suggest you get prepared for delays/cancellations, and if possible, come with some extra buffer days (1-2 days) at the end of the trip to accommodate such delays. We also organize Heli rescue in such conditions if it's available and upon request by our clients. In case the flight delay/cancellation happens at the start of the trip and it goes so long that it disturbs your onward travel schedule, you are free to choose an alternative trip: such as a trek in the Annapurna, Langtang, or any other regions. If you are not interested in the alternative trip and would rather wait for the trip, you are welcome to wait in Kathmandu for as many days as it takes to get a flight to Lukla).
