Ghandruk Trek is short, easy and popular trekking trail for those people do not have long holidays. Ghandruk trekking is also known as Ghandruk culture trek. It is populated of ethnic Gurung people. It is located in the Western part of Nepal. Those who go for Ghandruk trek can also enjoy Hiking in Winter and summer season.

Ghandruk trek offers to see you a spectacular Mountain View along with charming Gurung village and their daily lifestyles, culture and sunrise view. You can enjoy the view of fishtail (6993m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Annapurna South (7219m), Lamjung Himal and its ranges. March, April and May are the suitable months to enjoy beautiful national flowers with the picturesque peak of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail Peak) and Annapurna ranges. You can see the breathtaking reddish Jungle of Rhododendron which blooms in the month of March / April with great landscapes, Rivers & waterfalls. Ghandruk Village is also popular for the view of sun rise over the Himalayan giants; fishtail (6993m) ranges. Ghandruk village trek is also suitable for childrens and to those who is not interested for long trekking, as it doesn't require any particular fitness. As Ghandruk lies in the route of Annapurna base camp trek, you will find larger number of trekkers walking through Ghandruk.Together you will be exploring the scenic and magnificent beauty of the rich Nature, encounter Gurung culture in Ghandruk and Pothana villages.

Ghandruk Village Trekking / 08 Days - Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m)

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Day 03: Fly Kathmandu to Pokhara, 25 min/drive 6-7 hrs (850 m)

Day 04: Pokhara to Ghandruk (1940m) 5-6 hrs

Day 05: Ghandruk to Pothana (1990m) 5-6 hrs

Day 06: Pothana to Pokhara, 3-4 hrs

Day 07: Pokhara to Kathmandu fly 25 min. / drive 6-7 hrs

Day 08: Farewell Friend (Final departure to your onward destination)

Ghandruk Village Trekking / 08 Days - Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m)
Namaste & welcome to Mountain Guide Trek of Nepal. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Mountain guide Treks (MGT). After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Mountain Guide Treks and Expedition with Group leader's name display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to Hotel. After check in, if time allows, you will visit MGT office to meet your trekking leader as well as other participants and for final preparation for the trip. It all depends upon your arrival time. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation
The day after breakfast we will start sightseeing tour with our professional tour guide to the several of most historical and spiritual Place in Kathmandu. Some of these landmarks are considered the World Heritage historic Sites such as Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupati Nath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambunath) and Buddhists shrine (Buddha Nath) which is one of the largest Stupas in the world. After come back from the tour there will be a pre-trip discussion with our trek leader and other team members. Mountain Guide Trek will brief you regarding your trek as well as we may have an opportunity to discuss any difficulties regarding our upcoming adventure. Rest of the time you could use for travelling around the Thamel and shopping of needed equipments and other necessaries. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 03: Fly Kathmandu to Pokhara, 25 min/drive 6-7 hrs (850 m)
As Pokhara is the entry point for Ghandruk trek we will start our travel early in the morning at 7:00 am. We will arrange ticket in tourist coach at river side seat to enjoy the scenery; the road follows by Trisuli River where you see many people rafting on the river. Around 6/7 hours (200km) drive we reach Pokhara (a city of Lake, literally); or 30 min. fly to Pokhara as per departure time. A city that offers us the magnificent view of various mountains namely Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchre and other mountain of Annapurna range. You have good chance to do some last minute shopping and self exploration around the town, walk around few lake, boating etc; (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 04: Pokhara to Ghandruk (1940m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast early morning travel by car to Nayapul and trek continues to along the terraced fields with a constant view of the Himalayan mountain ranges with superb views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Gangapurna Annapurna III and Machhapuchhare. The landscape remains relatively flat, before crossing over a suspension bridge over Khumbu Khola to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a large Gurung village and has its own museum and handicraft center again popular with visitors. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 05: Ghandruk to Pothana (1990m) 5-6 hrs
The trek from Ghandruk to Pothana is about six hours and begins with a steep descent following a stone staircase to Kimbu which means Bee Hive. Kimbu is located at an elevation of 1200m on the bank of the Modi Khola. From here on the trail continues upwards through Landruk, then Deurali (2150m) passing through Tolkha village (1850m) which means there are panoramic views of Dhaulagiri I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhare, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. The trail then descends to reach Pothana village. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 06: Pothana to Pokhara, 3-4 hrs
Around 3 hrs trek down to Phedi with good views of the mountains before Phedi and 30 min drive back to Pokhara by private car. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 07: Pokhara to Kathmandu fly 25 min. / drive 6-7 hrs
you could choose afternoon flight to Kathmandu till some hours before flight; you may take an optional sightseeing tour around Pokhara or enjoy adventure activities such as boat riding, paragliding, etc. While returning to Kathmandu from Pokhara, be sure to catch the left side of airplane for the best views of Himalayas. Or if you would like to choose by bus, we will arrange ticket in tourist coach at river side seat and start your journey at 7:30 am from Pokhara. Left site’s seats of vehicles are nice to enjoy the scenery; the road follows by Trisuli River where you see many people rafting on the river. After 6/7 hours you will arrive at Kathmandu (beside Thamel) and transfer to your hotel. The day at leisure to rest, perhaps catch up on some last minute shopping or explore any sights you missed during your first day in Kathmandu. Remember, we will be hosting a fantastic celebration "Farewell dinner" at traditional Nepalese restaurant together with Mountain Guide Trek staffs for successful completion of the Ghandruk village trek! (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 08: Farewell Friend (Final departure to your onward destination)
Today is last day in Nepal for this trip; you are saying good bye to the mountains as journey in Nepal, comes to an end today, There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Mountain Guide Treks will take you to the airport.

  • Nepal entree visa: you can get a visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu (A multiple-entry tourist visa good for 30 days can be obtained by Paying US $ 40 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, multiple-entry tourist visas for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $100. Please bring 2 copies of passport-size photos)

  • Lunch and dinner in Kathmandu or Pokhara (and also in the case of early return from the mountain than the scheduled itinerary)
