Jomsom Muktinath trek is one of the popular trekking trails in the Annapurna region. This trekking is basically to explore the Tibetan plateau. It is also considered to be the gateway to the Upper Mustang, the Tibetan border. While trekking in this area, you will enjoy different mountain views including Mount Dhaulagiri (8167m), Mount. Annapurna I (8091m), Mount Nilgiri (7040m), Mount Annapurna South (7219m), Mount Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Mount Annapurna IV (7525m), Mount Hiunchuli (6441m), Mount Fishtail also called Machhapuchhare (6998m), Tukuche peak (6920m), Lamjung Himal (6586m) among others. Jomsom Muktinath trek begins in Jomsom, the major trading center in the lower Mustang, and heads north to Kagbeni along the riverbank of Kali Gandaki, the deepest gorge in the world, following the trial it finally takes to Muktinath temple. It passes through many fascinating Thakali indigenous peoples' settlements and sails out the Marpha village, the famous village for apple brandy. You can enjoy having a shower in Tatopani (A natural hot spring) and visit Ghorepani Poon hill for viewing sunrise over the mountain and have a panoramic view of various Himalayas trails in Annapurna trekking, and then you will return to Jomsom from the same route and fly back to Pokhara. Another option is that from Jomsom, you will return to Ghandruk, the largest settlement of Gurung ethnic groups on foot and have great views of Annapurna south and Machhapachare, the finally we descend to Nayapul, from there we catch vehicles, and at last, we reach Pokhara and subsequently in Kathmandu.

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m)

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara flight 25 min. /drive 6-7 hrs

Day 03: Drive to Nayapul 1 hour & trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m) 3-4 hrs

Jomsom Muktinath Trek / 12 Days - Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m)
Namaste & welcome to Mountain Guide Trek of Nepal. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Mountain guide Treks (MGT). After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Mountain Guide Treks and Expedition with the Group leader's name display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to Hotel. After check-in, if time allows, you will visit the MGT office to meet your trekking leader as well as other participants and for final preparation for the trip. It all depends upon your arrival time. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 02: Kathmandu to Pokhara flight 25 min.
Start your travel early at 7:00 am 30 min. fly to Pokhara as per departure time. A city that offers us a magnificent view of various mountains namely Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchre, and another mountain of the Annapurna range. You have a good chance to do some last-minute shopping and self-exploration around the town (walk around a few lakes, boating, etc). (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 03: Drive to Nayapul 1 hour & trek to Tikhedhunga (1540m) 3-4 hrs
Today, we take a short drive to Nayapul which is the beginning part of the trek. After short preparation of the luggage for the porters and preparing yourself the trail leads an easy walk towards Birethanti along the River. A short check-in formality takes place at the ACAP office and the trail leads you towards Burundi Khola along with the great scenery passing through several countryside villages up to Tikhedhunga. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 04: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (3194m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast in the morning, we prepare for the long uphill to Ulleri which has 3200 stone steps and has an amazing landscape with the valley and short range of Annapurna. This scenery gives you the inner power to climb up these steps and immerse you to walk more. After a short walk from Ulleri, the trail leads you through the forest of rhododendron which is the national flower of Nepal. Then the trail continues leads uphill to Ghorepani which is on the top of the hill have excellent views of the entire Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 05: Hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tatopani (1190m) 6-7 hrs
Wake up in the early morning as per sunrise time and an hour walk to Poon Hill for Sunrise view and Mountain View. After having a photograph from Poon Hill, drop down to the lodge at Ghorepani and trek down to Tatopani after breakfast. At the beginning pretty steep downhill to Chitre then a very gentle descent to Ghara village where you may stop for lunch. Then short step down to the bottom of the hill to cross the bridge over Kali Gandaki River to get into Tatopani where you will enjoy the natural hot springs. Day 06: Trek Tatopani to Ghasa (2010m) 5-6 hrs
After breakfast at the lodge, your walk begins through the bank of the river to Dana which is the deepest George in the world between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Mountain. After crossing the suspension bridge at Dana you will get into Rupse Chahara (Waterfall) which is the biggest waterfall on this route. Then the trail leads towards Ghasa. Day 07: Trek Ghasa to Marpha (3500m) 5-6 hrs
The trail continues leads gently up to the Kalopani which has awesome views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Icefall. It is an easy walk through the bank of the River to cross a suspension bridge to get into Tukuche which is a popular Thakali village. Tukuche. After a short climb, you will reach Marpha which is probably the most beautiful village on the route and has an interesting village settlement and apple garden. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 08: Trek Marpha to Kegbeni (2800m) 5-6 hrs
The trial to Kagbeni is easy, flat, and also windy. In this case, we will be starting early morning to cross the Jomsom valley before the wind blows violently. It is an easy day walking through the bank of the river to get to Kegbeni. Visit Red Gompa in leisure evening and walk around the little alleys of the town. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 09: Trek Kegbeni to Muktinath (3760m) 4-5 hrs.
At the beginning part of the day, steep climbing to the ridge and an easy walk to Jharkot. Then the trail climbs up Muktinath, Muktinath is a Vishnu temple, sacred to both Hindus and Buddhists. It is located in Muktinath Valley at the foot of the Thorong La mountain pass in Mustang, Nepal. It is one of the world's highest temples. After short rest at the lodge, walk up to the temple area to explore the holy temple and Gompas. It is an excellent place to explore. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 10: Trek Muktinath to Jomsom (2750m) 4-5 hrs
Today is very easy to walk to Jomsom but a bit hard to walk against the wind. So this day is highly suggested to wear sunglass to protect your eyes. Stop at Jomsom overnight to catch a flight to Pokhara the next day. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 11: Fly Jomsom to Pokhara 40 min. and fly to Kathmandu (1300m) 40 min.
This morning we fly back to Pokhara. This flight is a Trans Himalayan flight- approx of 25 minutes. Once you arrive in Pokhara we can manage your flight to Kathmandu right away or we can manage your flight to Kathmandu in the evening so that you can explore Pokhara valley during the day! Remember, we will be hosting a fantastic celebration "Farewell dinner" at a traditional Nepalese restaurant together with Mountain Guide Trek staff for the successful completion of the Jomsom-Muktinath Trek! Day 12: Farewell Friend (Final departure to your onward destination) 
Today is the last day in Nepal for this trip; you are saying goodbye to the mountains as the journey in Nepal, comes to an end today, There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Mountain Guide Treks will take you to the airport.

  • Nepal entree visa: you can get a visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International airport in Kathmandu (a multiple-entry tourist visa good for 30 days can be obtained by Paying US $ 40 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, multiple-entry tourist visas for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $ 100. Please bring 2 copies of passport-size photos.)
