Yala Peak Climbing (5732m) is one of the easier and non-technical trekking peak in Nepal, Situated in Langtang Region, north of Kathmandu. Prior climbing experience is not required though, previous outdoor experience and average level of fitness is recommended. Yala Peak is a moderate trekking peak in the Langtang region which is a fantastic beginner’s mountaineering trip.

We start in Syabrubesi after a 7 to 8 hour drive from Kathmandu and we flow the trekking route of Langtang valley on till Kyanjin Gompa (3800m). Kyanjin Gompa is the last village in this valley which is situated below Langtang Lirung (7246m). We take rest in Kyangjin Gompa and walk up to Lirung Glacier and Kyangjin-Ri (4700m). From Kyangjin Gompa you will pass through the old small airport than you turn to north small gorges to Yala Peak Base Camp (4800m) and next day climb to Yala Peak (5732m). From the summit offer you spectacular views of Langtang Lirung, Langsisha, Gangchepo, Dorje Lakpa and Naya Kanga.

Yala Peak Climbing / 13 Days - Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m)

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Day 03: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1420m) via Trisuli Bazaar (540m) by bus 7-8 hrs.

Day 04: Syabru Bensi to Lama Hotel (2470m) 5-6 hrs.

Day 05: Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3430m) 5-6 hrs.

Day 06: Langtang Village to Kyanjing Gompa (3870m) 5-6 hrs.

Day 07: Kyanjin Gompa exploration day for acclimatization

Day 08: Kyangjin to Yala Base Camp (4400m) 5-6 hrs

Day 09: Summit Yala Peak (5732m) and return to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m) 8-9 hrs

Day 10: Trek back Kyanjin Gomba to Lama Hotel (2470m) 5-6 hrs

Day 11: Lama Hotel to Syabru Besi (1420m)

Day 12: Drive Shybru Besi to Kathmandu 7-8 hrs

Day 13: Farewell Friend (Final departure to your onward destination)

Yala Peak Climbing / 13 Days - Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m).
Namaste & welcome to Mountain Guide Trek of Nepal. Upon your arrival, you will be greeted by a representative from Mountain guide Treks (MGT). After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc) pick up your luggage and look for our representative with a Mountain Guide Treks and Expedition with Group leader's name display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to Hotel. After check in, if time allows, you will visit MGT office to meet your trekking leader as well as other participants and for final preparation for the trip. It all depends upon your arrival time. (Overnight deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Preparation.
Normally, you need to be trained for rock climbing a day course before start your trek, so you will be taken to a natural rock climbing spot Balaju which is 3 Km drive from Thamel. We will offer excellent opportunities to learn how to use climbing equipment like; rope, harness, Ice axe, crampons although maintain your physically fitness. Alternatively we will start half day sightseeing tour with our professional tour guide to the several of most historical and spiritual Place in Kathmandu. Some of this place is considered the World Heritage historic Sites such as Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pashupatinath, the famous 'Monkey Temple' (Swayambunath) and Buddhists shrine (Buddhanath) which is one of the largest Stupas in the world. After come back from the tour there will be a pre-trip discussion with our trek guide and other team members. Mountain Guide Trek will brief you regarding your trek as well as we may have an opportunity to discuss about any difficulties regarding our upcoming adventure. Rest of the time you could use for travelling around the Thamel and shopping of needed equipment and other necessaries. (Overnight at deluxe hotel on BB basis)

Day 03: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1420m) via Trisuli Bazaar (540m) by bus 7-8 hrs.
Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi which takes about nine hours by bus or Land cruiser depending on group size. You head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridge line vistas to Syabru Besi passing through Dhunche. While passing along the road at the bank of Trishuli River you catch a glimpse of Ganesh Himal, terraces and green hills. As you pass through Dhunche you feel as if you are heading towards deep land. At the same time, you notice that the road is still under construction. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 04: Syabru Bensi to Lama Hotel (2470m) 5-6 hrs.
The first part of the trail crosses through Bhote Koshi and follows the Langtang Khola. This trail is gradually climbs to Bamboo passing through the Landslide area. Afterwards, your trek ascends gently to Rimche (2400 meters) through Bamboo (1960meters) which lies at the bank of Langtang Khola. You can have lunch at this place if you like. And at the end your trail is level to the Lama Hotel. En route you could see red pandas, monkeys and bears if you're lucky. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 05: Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3430m) 5-6 hrs.
The trek route follows Gumanechok, Ghoda Tabela literally it means the Horse Stable. After this the trail is slightly gradual and beautiful in the valley with the grazing Yaks. Langtang village is one of the very local and old villages along this trekking route and the view from here is more spectacular as we get closer to mountain. Day 06: Langtang Village to Kyanjing Gompa (3870m) 5-6 hrs.
Today is a shorter walk but enough for acclimatization. The surroundings are interesting also because of the famous Cheese factory. The beautiful valley in the lap of the Langtang Lirung and other around, a place to explore the valley and lots of small peaks to climb (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 07: Kyanjin Gompa exploration day for acclimatization.
today is an acclimatization day to rest and explore the area. You can visit the monastery and the cheese factory, walk up the moraine to see the spectacular ice faces and tumbling glaciers of Langtang Lirung or ascend Kyangjin Ri (4350m) which is highest point of this trek, directly behind the village, for a breath-taking panorama of the Langtang peaks. Day 08: Kyangjin to Yala Base Camp (4400m) 5-6 hrs. 
From Kyangjin we continue further up the valley, climbing above the Langtang Khola and contouring around the hillside to the Yersa at Yala. From our camp here there are tremendous views towards the peaks of Dorje Lakpa (7000m), Kangchenpo (6400m) and Lonpo Gang (7100m) etc. (Overnight at tented camp on full board basis)

Day 09: Summit Yala Peak (5732m) and return to Kyanjin Gompa 3870m) 8-9 hrs. 
Our base at Yala provides us with the opportunity to summit Yala Peak, a glaciated peak to the north east of Yala. The climb is not difficult and provides good acclimatization and training for our climb. This climb is a superb introduction to mountaineering in the Himalaya with magnificent mountain scenery all around and views across to the mountains in nearby Tibet, than stroll come back to Kyanjin Gompa. Day 10: Trek back Kyanjin Gomba to Lama Hotel (2470m) 5-6 hrs.
From Kyangjin you retrace your route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch you continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 11: Lama Hotel to Syabru Besi (1420m). 
The upper part of the trail is more beautiful for the panoramic view of mountains and green hill views. This path is broader and remains sunny through the different Shepra and Tamang villages. The first half part of the trail is gradually down and then the trail does steeply descent to the Syabru Besi (1600m). There was run a project called Chilime Power Plant the main inhabitants belong to Tamang community and they have adopted Tibetan lifestyle. (Overnight at tea house on full board basis)

Day 12: Drive Shybru Besi to Kathmandu 7-8 hrs. 
In the morning drive back to Kathmandu by Local bus or private vehicle. The drive takes 7 to 8 hrs to reach Kathmandu. Remember, we will be hosting a fantastic celebration "Farewell dinner" at traditional Nepalese restaurant with Mountain Guide Trek staffs for successful completion of the Yala Peak Climbing! Day 13: Farewell Friend (Final departure to your onward destination).
Today is last day in Nepal for this trip, you are saying good bye to the mountains as journey in Nepal, comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but trade emails with travel companions and organize the photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight a representative from Mountain Guide Treks will take you to the airport.

  • Nepal entree visa: you can get a visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu (a multiple-entry tourist visa good for 30 days can be obtained by Paying US $ 40 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, multiple-entry tourist visas for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $ 100. Please bring 2 copies of passport-size photos.)
